Age Wave and Harris Interactive, a leading market research firm,
worked together to conceptualize and conduct a landmark study of
the lifestyles, attitudes, activities and financial needs of
today´s – and tomorrow´s – retirees.* We asked 1,000
adults age 55+ what retirement was really like. Did they plan well
for their retirement? How long did they save and invest for their
retirement years? Did they benefit from professional assistance in
creating a retirement plan? What do they wish they had done
differently?
The research revealed groundbreaking findings: the emergence of
four definitive retirement segments – "Ageless Explorers," "Comfortably
Contents," "Live for Todays," and "Sick and Tireds." Each of
these retirement types have different attitudes, outlooks, concerns,
financial preparation and ways of living their retirement years.
As you will learn, retirement isn´t what it used to be. It is far more
varied, exciting, unpredictable, and in many ways, more difficult than
it was for prior generations. Thanks to increasing lifespans and a
lower average retirement age, today people can look forward to
spending 20 years or more in retirement. And based on the research,
there is a new vision of retirement emerging. For many, retirement is
no longer means to "withdraw," "disappear," "wind
down" or "stop." It
now means new beginnings, continued productivity and personal
reinvention.
Many of your clients will have only a vague concept of what their
retirement could be and each will have a different vision
for their retirement. In addition, the leading edge of 76 million baby
boomers are beginning to migrate into retirement, and these findings
may be a wake-up call for them as they look at the four segments to
see which one resembles them.
Financial advisors need to help their clients understand and plan for
their personal retirement freedom. Though financial planning may be
more challenging today, it creates new opportunities for you to deepen
your relationships with your existing clients, attract new clients and
sell more products. Many of the proprietary research findings and
insights from the "Re-Visioning Retirement" study are included in the
LifeCourse Navigation seminar to help your participants determine if
they´d rather spend their futures as "Ageless Explorers," "Comfortably
Contents," "Live for Todays" or "Sick and Tireds."
By giving the LifeCourse Navigation Seminar you can become the
expert that helps them navigate toward their unique retirement dream.
